The new Accuphase DP-950 and DC-950 is regarded as the best overall CD/SACD Playback System in the world. Digital signal processing is implemented through an ultra-high-speed FPGA in conjunction with innovative MDSD reproduction technology, forming a double-speed high-precision moving-average filter circuit for straight D/A conversion of the DSD signal. Eight digital inputs including USB with support for 11.2896 MHz (1-bit 2-channel DSD) and 384 kHz (32-bit 2-channel PCM), as well as an HS-LINK connector (Version 1 and 2) provide enhanced versatility for the ultimate in performance and sonic purity. The product demonstrates ultimate mechanical precision matched with ingenuity and the famous Accuphase dedication to sonic excellence.

The ultra-massive SA-CD drive combines superior rigidity with rock-stable accuracy. Truly a monumental event in the world of high-end audio. In the transport, a digital servo with a dedicated DSP assures accurate readout of the signal recorded on the SA-CD using the DSD (Direct Stream Digital) principle. This is sustained by a single-lens/twin laser diode pickup mounted to a high-speed access mechanism. The transport not only realizes optimal reproduction of SA-CDs, it also is capable of extracting a super accurate signal from conventional CDs. The output for both SA-CD and CD is provided via the Accuphase exclusive high-performance digital interface HS-Link (RJ-45 connector), while the CD output is also available via a coaxial connector. The HS-Link cable supplied with the DP-950 can be used for connection to the DC-950 or to other components.

The Accuphase DC-950 Digital processor was designed for ultimate SA-CD quality. Innovative digital signal processing technology MDSD (Multiple Double Speed DSD). Moving-average filter circuit configured with delay and eight parallel converters achieves straight D/A conversion of DSD signal. Seven digital inputs for enhanced versatility. The DC-901 showcases Accuphase´s mastery of sophisticated digital technology and creative circuit topology. It is a digital processor designed to realize the ultimate in SA-CD reproduction. A new technique called MDSD (Multiple Double Speed DSD) allows straight D/A conversion of the DSD signal. MDSD employs eight MDS++ type D/A converters operating in parallel to reduce conversion errors to an absolute minimum while at the same acting as a high-cut filter that removes noise in the high-frequency range. The Direct Balanced Filter is configured with entirely separate balanced and unbalanced signal paths, and a further refined "Ultra Jitter-Free +" PLL circuit extracts the master clock for the D/A converter with absolute precision. The overall result is music reproduction that finally brings out the full sonic potential of the SA-CD format.

For connectivity to various sources, the DC-950 offers a full complement of digital inputs: HS-Link, balanced, coaxial (3 streams), and optical (2 streams). This allows the music data to be supplied to the processor without any degradation in quality. Two sets of digital outputs (coaxial and optical) let the user easily connect a digital recorder, for recording of sources other than SA-CD. And there´s even a set of EXTERNAL DSP input/output connectors that allows using the Digital Voicing Equalizer DG-58 for sound field processing in the digital domain.

Accuphase introduced the ultimate separate-type SA-CD/CD player. Garnering worldwide acclaim both for their technological excellence and sound quality, the transport and processor pair has become the new reference for SA-CD reproduction. The new DP-750 is an integrated type SA-CD player incorporating that very same state-of-the-art technology. In the transport section, a dedicated DSP chip controls the digital servo to assure accurate readout of the signal recorded on the SA-CD.

Another vital aspect is the single-lens/twin laser diode pickup mounted to a high-speed positioning mechanism, providing a significant improvement in read access times and accuracy. The processor section features the innovative MDSD principle forming a sophisticated moving average filter circuit, together with the MDS++ D/A system that keeps conversion errors to an absolute minimum and at the same time acts as high-cut filter efficiently removing noise components in the high frequency domain. Internally, the transport and processor sections of the DP-750 are kept entirely separate. HIGH-END AUDIO NOTES FROM THE PALACE

Through the years we have been asked many times over by audiophiles worldwide what makes a true reference CD Player, Transport/DAC different from most other real world CD Players. Well, I can tell you from my experience that the biggest difference I find is the overall realism, life like tonality of instruments and voices, there is an ambience and air in recordings that I do not hear with most CD Players and DAC's. I will even go as far as to tell you that the music has a soul, a certain realness about the music when is played through the right digital system.

There is nothing that the preamp, amplifier, speakers, cables and AC can do to fix what's not right from the start. If your music sounds thin, analytical, cold, unattached, unmusical, mechanical or forward when it gets to your preamp, there isn't much the rest of the system can do to make the sound right.

In the past 22 years we have done many tests with world class CD Players, Transports and DAC's. I must tell you, it's hard to explain why some deliver "magic" and most don't. True reference CD playback systems cost from $20,000 to over $100,000 now days, that's how much it cost to have a true state-of-the-art front end in your system. Most audiophiles refuse to accept that, they simply do not believe that you have to spend that much money to have a true state-of-the-art front end, so they buy players between $500 and $5,000 to do the job.

Most of the time an audiophiles spends more trying to achieve the right sound by buying and trying different players through a period of time than if there were to buy what they really wanted in the first place.

Let's think about this last statement for a moment. You have spent all this money on your system and it still does not sound right, what could it be? The more audiophiles and high-end audio stores you speak to the more confuse you get, everyone provides a different opinion, so you start replacing components, speakers, cables, players and you still not there. Most likely you will never get there because one of the most important things in a high-end system is the quality of sound of your front-end, being CD or Vinyl. Link to Accuphase website.
